100% Online Course
June 13 - August 15, 2012
Wednesday Evenings, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Does this sound familiar?
"Professional writer" may not be in your job description, but you find a large (and frustrating) chunk of your work week devoted to producing emails and various documents. As a technical expert, you're master of your subject matter, but you struggle to find just the right words and the structures to organize your ideas. Writing eats up way too much of your time, and the sweat you put into it doesn't always guarantee a positive result.
Here's an intensive writing course to help you capture your ideas in well-organized, readable messages. The course comprises 10 online sessions. You will learn how to:
- write persuasively for difficult audiences
- improve your productivity as a writer
- streamline your style and avoid "gobbledygook"
- overcome common problems with grammar and punctuation
- perform quality assurance testing on your documents
You'll come away from the course better able to:
- craft emails that produce positive results
- write reports people actually want to read
- produce user manuals for real human beings
What should you expect from an online course?
Weekly online sessions are 90 minutes long and feature a combination of lecture, group discussion, and interactive activities.
Weekly assignments enable you to practice the skills developed during the online sessions and receive detailed, individualized feedback on your writing. Writing assignments require a one- to two-page response and take about 90 minutes to complete.
In between sessions, the instructor is accessible via e-mail to answer questions and clarify feedback on assignments.
